With a background managing finance operations in the fintech industry, I bring a broader commercial perspective than traditional practice. I combine compliance, financial reporting, operational efficiency and management insight to help business owners understand their numbers, improve performance and grow with confidence.
Working remotely with clients across the whole of the UK
Every accountant files your accounts and returns. Fewer have run a finance function from the inside. That’s the difference in what I can offer once the statutory work is under control.
Filed on time, checked properly, and explained before anything is submitted.
Most reporting packs tell you what happened. Built on CIMA management accounting principles, yours will tell you what it means and what to do next — margin by product or client, where cost is drifting, which work is actually worth taking on.
If a monthly task takes a day, it is usually possible to make it take an hour. I map how information actually moves through your business, find the manual re-keying and the duplicated checks, and remove them — receipt capture, approvals, reconciliations, reporting.
The point where a spreadsheet stops coping. Setting up the controls, approval routes and month-end routine a business needs as it grows, drawn from running finance operations in fintech rather than from a textbook.
Xero or Sage, and honest advice on which suits you rather than which is easiest for me. Includes moving you across from an old system without losing history, and training your team so it actually gets used.
Sometimes the brief is only a feeling — the numbers don’t tell you what you need, or something takes longer than it should and you can’t say why. Working out what is really going on, and turning it into something you can act on, is a large part of what I do.
Operational consulting for companies whose finance function is more complicated than their size suggests — internal process design and reconciliation review in particular. Advisory only, working alongside your existing finance team rather than replacing it.
Fixed monthly fees, so you always know what you're paying. All prices exclude VAT. Every package includes unlimited email support — ask as many questions as you like.
Sole traders and small limited companies
Growing businesses needing regular support
Established businesses wanting full finance support
Not everything fits a monthly package. One-off consulting projects and hourly advisory work are also available — useful if you need a specific problem solved rather than ongoing support.
I'm a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and I run AgaDOes Finance, the practice arm of AL Precision Finance Ltd.
Before setting up in practice I managed finance operations in fintech, which is where I learned that the accounts are only half the job. The other half is the process behind them — how information gets recorded, who checks it, and how much of it could be handled automatically instead of by hand.
That's the part I enjoy most. Clients often arrive with something they can't quite articulate — a nagging sense the numbers don't tell them what they need, or that a monthly task is taking far longer than it should. Turning that into a clear, workable answer is the work.
I work with sole traders and limited companies, mostly on Xero and Sage, and I'm happy to take over from a previous accountant or start from scratch. I particularly enjoy working with start-ups — there's something satisfying about getting the foundations right while everything is still being built, rather than untangling it two years later.
Thirty minutes, no charge, no obligation. Tell me about the business and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit and what it would cost.
